Every student is unique, and so is their readiness for piano lessons. In general, young beginners do best when they:
Show interest in piano and practicing
Are developing early reading skills
Can follow left-to-right reading and part-to-whole patterns (like in phonics)
Can focus and sit for a 30-minute lesson and similar practice time
Younger students often benefit from a parent or guardian helping during practice. Some children are ready as early as age 6, while others thrive by waiting until 3rd or 4th grade.
